This article is about the case that has taken the Internet by storm. In January 2015 a Stanford student was arrested for the potential rape of an unconscious 22 year old woman behind a dumpster on Stanford campus. Two other students found Brock and the victim who called the police. The trial has been dragged out for a gruelling year and finally in March this year, a decision was made on the accused’s actions. A unanimous jury vote found 20 year old Brock Turner guilty and he was convicted on three felony charges. The young man was set to face a maximum of 14 years in prison but when the judge spoke out that Turner would serve 6 months in the county jail with three years probation, the public was outraged.  The victim released a powerful statement and Brock’s statement was also released. Other documents have also been released as well such as Brock’s father’s letter to the judge, which said some controversial statements and also received a lot of negativity from the public. There have been protests and movements from people all over who support the victim and have spoken out about injustice. A petition has been started to remove the judge from the bench. The petition has over 1, 000, 000 signatures and this number only continues to constantly increase.

Everywhere I look online I see another article, another update, another opinion about this case. There are countless photos, evidence, statements, and responses being spread around about this story. I have read through all the documents I can find and all the articles I can to get a clearer idea of the story. I’m happy that this story is getting the attention it deserves and that people are making such strong points about the negative affects of his actions. It’s good to show that most people understand the seriousness of his actions and the damage they have caused. I believe it’s important that he is held accountable for his actions.
